Judge Orders FAA To Investigate The Size Of Airline Seats & Legroom

The Shrinking Airplane Seat

A Federal Appeals Court orders the FAA to investigate the size of airplane seats.

This comes after Flyers Rights, an advocacy group, claimed small seats are unsafe & could affect a passenger’s ability to evacuate the plane in an emergency.

According to reports, the distance between one seat to another has decreased from 18 inches to 16.5 inches over the past 10 years.

The agency says its studying the claim as well as any potential actions they may take to maintain safety standards on all passenger airplanes.

The issue could lead the House to consider legislation requiring the FAA to set a minimum seat size and distance between rows.
